The Madrid Vis Pre-Moot is organised by our partner society, the Carlos III University Mooting Society, every year approximately one month before the Vis Moot (or sooner).

The Pre-Moot, which recently turned a decade old, is focused on providing a "360º experience" to the competing teams. Therefore, not only general, amicable and elimination rounds are organised, but previous editions of the Pre-Moot have also featured networking and social events (for students and coaches/arbitrators), cultural visits, career talks, and panels on topics related to the running VM's case. To the same end, all rounds are hosted at law firms.

The particulars for the 11th edition (2026) are as follows:

• It will be held from the 23rd to the 25th of February, 2026 (Monday to Wednesday).

• Each team will enjoy the opportunity to engage in five general rounds. Classifying teams will have the chance to participate in elimination rounds (quarterfinals, semifinals and a public Grand Final). ​All rounds will be hosted by collaborating law firms across Madrid.

• Several ceremonies will take place: an Opening, an Announcement of the classifying teams, a Grand Final, and a Closing and Awards ceremony. Some of them will be preceded or followed by social events.

 

Registration is free of charge. It will be open until 31 December 2025, 23h59 CET in the following form. Since the PreMoot is often heavily oversubscribed, teams are encouraged to apply at the earliest opportunity, as some applications may be granted on a rolling basis. Nevertheless, most teams will be notified by 6 January 2026, whether they have made the "first cut". Later admissions may be possible, but they are unforeseeable. They depend on cancellations.
